The issue of LGBTQ representation in any form of media is an issue that is very close to my heart for a variety of personal reasons and, since I have a passionate love for video games, you could say that LGTBQ representation in gaming is doubly as important for me. Not only is it important to me, it is important to countless other people who consider themselves to fall under the LGTBQ umbrella and take up an active part in gaming.

By John Philip Jennings The next Mass Effect game was teased during EA's E3 conference last week. The game itself was in very early development stages, but we did get a glimpse of a new protagonist, new worlds and we got to listen to some of the team at Bioware discuss their ambitions and desires for creating the game. But what do the fans want? By Reece Merryweather-Brown This year’s E3 has been an explosion of video game content, from gameplay of Mortal Kombat X, to a cinematic trailer of upcoming third-person MMO game, The Division. There’s been such a wide variety of content that it’s hard to pick out the truly amazing releases that stand out from the rest. However, IWGers are some of the most determined folk on these here internets. And you can sure as hell bet we're going to try! By the IWG Games Team So the excitement of E3 is over for another year, and we took the opportunity to ask some of our writers what they thought of the recent conferences and if there was a clear winner this year. Despite the differing opinions, everyone seems to be in agreement that EA's conference just blatantly sucked. By the IWG Games Team Ubisoft have become one of the more revered gaming companies in recent years, having been responsible for such successful franchises as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell and Rayman. The wonderful Aisha Tyler returned to host their E3 press conference last night, during which a range of upcoming titles were unveiled, each to be released over the course of the next year. By Paul Robert Scott A couple of months ago I got involved in a somewhat heated debate with a chap at the local pub. I’m ashamed to say it even got a little out of hand and (in an inebriated state) I may have said some things that I am not all too proud of. I may have even wagged my finger in his general direction once or twice. By Ben Mapp If our recent review of Watch_Dogs didn't convince you that Ubisoft are anything but the expert craftsmen we describe them to be when it comes to putting together lively, visual and utterly immersive gaming worlds, then perhaps this will make you see reason. But of course, the open sea is a treacherous place, so make ready the sails and man those cannons as we continue our in-depth reflection into last year's swashbuckling epic, Assassin's Creed IV - Black Flag. By Luke Kirby Everyone is clear on what a reboot entails. Just take games that are years old and give them a new lease on life through completely refreshing the storyline or adding new elements to the gameplay. Ideally a reboot will aim at keeping fans of the already existing franchise interested in the new iteration, while also attracting a new fan base to get involved in the series. Whether this actually happens though is another story altogether. By Ben Mapp We can all agree that war is a terrible, terrible thing. Yet we pour it into our fiction too as a means of escapism, alongside other popular genres such as adventure, fighting and puzzle games. How do we distract ourselves from the horrors of war? ...Well, by playing war-themed video games of course! By the IWG Games Team Dying Light is an upcoming first-person, story-driven survival game set in a post-apocalyptic setting filled with hordes of the undead. It is developed by Techland will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive when it arrives on both current and next-gen systems early next year. |
