I have been playing The Sims since the very first game came out well over a decade ago. I have owned every game, every expansion pack, and have played them all to death and still wanted more. I guess I’m just crazy like that. Still, I admit I was worried. There’s been so much hype about The Sims 4. It’s new and different, and while I was excited, I honestly wasn’t sure I was going to like it very much. A lot of what I’d heard made me sceptical. All the same, the day after its release date I went out to buy it.

I have been playing The Sims since the very first game came out well over a decade ago. I have owned every game, every expansion pack, and have played them all to death and still wanted more. I guess I’m just crazy like that. Still, I admit I was worried. There’s been so much hype about The Sims 4. The IWG Games Team As the last generation of gaming moves sluggishly towards its ultimate end and allows the eras of the PlayStation 4, Wii U and Xbox One to truly begin, some of our writers have banded together to provide you their thoughts on some of our most anticipated games across all platforms. Check 'em out! By John Philip Jennings Having played Destiny for approximately nine hours I've only just hit the point of new content I didn't reach during the Beta. The first area hasn't changed much, with only minor tweaks applied to the game's enemies, and also to the various locations to stop exploits. When I played the Beta I really enjoyed the content on offer having never been a big fan of MMO's I can start to see why some people enjoy them, with destiny there seems to be plenty of room for expansion. The IWG Games Team Microsoft created some controversial waves last month when they announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider would be a 'holiday exclusive' for Xbox One when it releases in Christmas 2015. At first the announcement received a mixed reaction, but eventually the company gave in and revealed that the exclusivity of the title was timed (and that the game would eventually see the expected multiple platform release). That puts Microsoft toe-to-toe with Sony once again, only Sony have Uncharted 4: A Thief's End in the wings, which is a complete exclusive (since Sony owns the developer Naughty Dog). So to get ahead, Microsoft certainly need to get some more exclusives. Halo and Gears of War simply won't cut it anymore. By Stephen David Hyland In anticipation of the upcoming 2015 title Star Wars Battlefront, I thought I’d put a little article together on the history of (in my eyes) one of the best gaming series of all time. I guess it all started ten years ago with the release of the first game of the series, Star Wars Battlefront. It was every Star Wars fanboy’s wet dream. This game was the first based on the movies that would actually let you partake in the battles we know and love from the Star Wars saga. By Luke Kirby As the title of this article suggests there will be no spoilers when it comes to my thoughts of Telltale’s Games The Walking Dead Season Two, but before I do say anything and if (for some reason) you’re yet to play or complete the first season go away and do that now because the ending for Season One will be spoiler for you otherwise. By Ben Mapp ‘You can’t just murder your way onto the Nice List you know...’ Right you are, Santa. But we can sure as hell try. How the Saints Save Christmas begins as any good DLC should with Jane Austen recounting the apparently final, festive adventure of the Third Street Saints. By Vanessa Hague I have only currently played The Last of Us a single time (I'm in the process of playing through the remaster on the PS4 however) and whilst everyone tends to focus on Ellie and sings her praises of being a well written and strong female character, Joel is as just as important. The direction that Naughty Dog decided to go with regards to Joel's character is interesting; a single father thrust into a post-apocalyptic world, willing to do whatever it takes in order to survive. Joel is strong, but silent; rarely speaking without purpose or due thought. Not only does this say a lot about his character, but it also allowed Naughty Dog to build some very strong characters around him - Ellie and Tess come quickly to mind. Naughty Dog's fantastic writing helped to shape Joel as a character, but it was an amazingly passionate performance from Troy Baker that really brought Joel to life. By Reece Merryweather Brown There’s been a lot of anger surrounding Ubisoft’s latest offering from the world of the Assassin’s Creed. It’s gotten more than a few of us here at IWG vexed that we’ll be unable to play as a female assassin, even though this choice has been given to us time and again before, meaning that not only was it possible but they made a conscious decision not to include it (and their bogus excuse for not including half the world’s population is ridiculous at best.) Gameplay-wise though the studio aims to break through common barriers in the gaming series and to respond directly to qualms that players have had with Unity’s predecessors. By Ben Mapp You could write a whole case study on the development of Enter the Dominatrix. It was originally announced as a DLC for Saints Row the Third, but with the option to be sold separately too (like Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare). It would have served as its own separate experience from Saints Row the Third. The story of Enter the Dominatrix featured the Saints of Steelport under attack by aliens led by Lord Zinyak. |
