Spanning nearly two console generations, Ratchet and Clank is probably the longest-running franchise for Sony at the moment. It’s had its ups and downs, but the series has aged well.
Into the Nexus is the conclusion of the “Future” series of Ratchet and Clank that began with Tools of Destruction on the PS3. As far as endings go, it’s pretty good. Nothing amazingly special, but not claw-your-eyes-out terrible.
There’s very little change to the gameplay mechanics, but if it ain't broke, don’t fix it. However, the playable Clank sections leave something to be desired, instead of the traditional fare of having Clank controlling a small army of mini robots, we are treated to a two-dimensional gravity manipulation game. That’s not to say it isn't fun, it’s more when compared to other Clank segments from previous games, it can't hold a candle to them.
The game is a lot shorter too. Not Quest for Booty short, but nowhere near the length of Tools of Destruction or Crack in Time. This is mainly due to it being an epilogue, but they manage to fit in everything the series stands for, with colourful planets, witty writing and engaging characters (some new, some returning), regardless.
