7th November marked N7 day on the gaming calendar, a day where fans of Mass Effect come together and celebrate the universe Bioware created. In honour of the day, and being never ones to disappoint (usually) the developers posted a blog on the official site revealing the people who are filling the various lead roles for the eagerly awaited fourth instalment in the franchise.
He had this to say about his current role:
“Every day is a revelation and every day I get to play in a new corner of the universe,” Chris says, “To be able to look three steps ahead to, ‘Where does this take us and how does it add to the way we look at the Mass Effect trilogy? You couldn’t ask for a better playground.”
“As a writer, I write for characters,” he adds, “To me, it’s always about what makes my characters tick and what stories I can tell through those characters that will actually engage people about their own lives. It provides a mirror to that player’s experience [so that they are] not just sitting back in an armchair.”
As you can see below it is looking as though we will once again get to explore some truly interesting new locations, from desolate moons to what looks like a brand new Citadel-esque environments for us to explore and soak up the atmosphere.
Perhaps equally exciting as any info we manage to glean about the new Mass Effect 4 is also the fact that Bioware general manager, Aaryn Flynn, has been out asking the fans what they would like to see in a next gen remastering of the original trilogy. While this has merely been a conversation at this point, you can bet that any re-release of the original three titles would include revamped graphics, and perhaps even a little added content just for fun.
It's a fine old time to be a Mass Effect fan. Between the older team members who know exactly what we want, and fresh new faces to add a little spice to the writing and creative direction, we are sure to find a next gen experience that is worthy of the franchise's name when the time comes...
I should go...
