As every gaming fan should know, the biggest and most exciting week of the year is on the horizon, a week where a massive amount of potentially innovative new games will be revealed to the world for the very first time. There are sure to be some eye-openers that will get gamers riled up for those much-sought release dates, and whilst we can't talk about anything that hasn't been officially announced yet, we can surely talk about what we're most hoping to see make an appearance.
Mass Effect 4
Bioware
The story revolved around Commander Shepard who had been enlisted in the Alliance Navy. As the player you could shape the course of this story by making in-game choices which would have an effect on the ongoing storylines throughout all three games. But primarily, you had to traverse the galaxy with a crew of followers working together to stop an evil ancient threat called the Reapers. The next game currently in development was teased to be in a playable state by Bioware's Aaryn Flynn via Twitter on December 18th last year.
Since then who knows how far along the game is into its development? With the next Dragon Age game due for release in October, that likely means we won't get our hands on the next Mass Effect until possibly next year, but here's hoping we'll get at least a teaser next week!
Assassin's Creed (Unity & Comet)
Ubisoft
Secondly, the other and much more mysterious project (currently named AC: Comet) will be coming out for both generations of systems, and will most likely feature a more conventional game-style typical of this ongoing franchise. Rumours suggest that this title will return to America, as in Assassin's Creed III, but in an earlier point in history and that the main protagonist will actually be a Templar this time around. The title could be a reference to Halley's Comet, which swung by the Earth around 1758.
Star Wars - Battlefront
Electronic Arts
Fallout 4
Bethesda Studios
Fallout has always been one of those big brand RPGs that everyone is familiar with to some respect. The series itself is set in a retro-style world which looks and feels like a romanticised version of the fifties (back when nuclear war was considered a very real threat), but Bethesda combines that look with unique, futuristic technology and throws it all together in a ruined, post-apocalyptic setting. Lets be honest here though and take a peek at Bethesda's current schedule. The Elder Scrolls Online is already available on PC and has been pushed back by six months on its Xbox One and Playstation 4 release, and the studio have commented already on Fallout, stating that it won't be announcing a new game at this year's E3.
However, instead of giving into the heartbreak, we here at IWG like to think that Bethesda are lying, saving us a big Fallout-related surprise for next week. We're holding onto information which was originally posted to Reddit, describing a team from Bethesda went scouting locations in Boston presumably for the next Fallout sequel.
We're onto you, Bethesda!
Super Mario or Zelda U
Nintendo
So does this statement mean we are likely to get a huge amount of new information for new games from Nintendo? They're not holding a conference this year, which is unusual for them, but that doesn't mean that they don't have some surprises up their sleeves. We look forward to seeing these come into play next week.
Pok
Nintendo
e mon - Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire When it was revealed just last month it was a dream come true for many long-time fans. However, little else has been shown. We are curious as to what extend the games are being remade, although we expect it will look a little like last year's The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Only time will tell on this one!
Saints Row
Deep Silver
Whether those titles are part of known franchises like Saints Row or Dead Island is yet to be seen, although a Dead Island sequel seems unlikely in the wake of Techland's upcoming zombie survival/horror Dying Light. Let's face it. The two games could be entirely IPs altogether, but this news has certainly got us thinking.
Saints Row IV was advertised in trailers predating its release as being the 'climactic chapter of the series which broke all the rules.' This suggests to us that should a further game in the series be pursued, it will likely be in the form of a reboot or a spin-off in an alternate timeline from Saints Row 2, as that was the point when the series refocused onto the wackiness as opposed to the more serious themes laid out in the first two games.
Call of Duty - Advanced Warfare
Sledgehammer Games
Many gamers expect Advanced Warfare to maintain the conventional play-style of all of the previous CoD games, but knowing that it's the first title in the series by Sledgehammer Games, we are hopeful that maybe it will breathe new life into the exhausted franchise. Hopefully the addition of Kevin Spacey in the cast will help it along!
Game of Thrones
Telltale Games
Halo 5 - Guardians
343 Studios
Back in topic, given that the 10th anniversary of Halo 2 is approaching maybe we will perhaps get a Halo 2 Anniversary Edition or the heavily-rumoured Master Chief Collection that is to contain all games released thus far featuring Spartan 117 himself. Not in our wettest dreams have ever imagined something so beautiful...
Half-Life 3
Valve Corporation
Is it really too much to ask, Valve? Isn't it time already? Don't the people deserve to know what happens next? What happens to Gordon Freeman when he finally reaches the fabled Borealis? Does he find an Aperture Science handheld-portal device? Does he use it to kick the Combine off his planet once and for all?
I know. I know. It's probably not our year, but we live in hope. Count your memes, internet, because one day Half-Life 3 will actually be revealed. One day.
What do you want to see at this year's E3?
We've given some of the games we want to see at this years Electronic Entertainment Expo, but there are many more we haven't mentioned. Do you have any games or sequels you are hoping are revealed or shown this year?
