For twenty-two years that happy-go-lucky mustached plumber (and the various anthropomorphic creatures of the Mushroom Kingdom) have been writing and rewriting the playbook on how to correctly do a racing game, and this latest installment has its sights set on adding its own special chapter to this infamous genre-defining series. Nintendo pulls out all the stops in this regard, and I’m going to try and keep the twelve-year-old fanboy in me at bay to tell you about the good, the bad and the downright nit-picky about Mario Kart 8.

By Vanessa Hague We all remember when Watch_Dogs was first showcased to the world at E3 back in 2012 and completely took everyone by surprise. The standards were set inexplicably high during that first reveal, with so many hoping that the promised game was truly going to herald the next gaming generation. Two years later and the game has finally been released, so the question is - does Watch_Dogs live up to hype? By John Philip Jennings For all you Batman fans out there who were looking forward to playing Batman: Arkham Knight, which was initially due for release in October for next-gen systems and PC, has unfortunately been pushed back till 2015, developer Rocksteady has confirmed. Whilst no reason was given for the delay it's possible the extra time is being used to polish the game more and give each fan a Batman game they deserve. As of this announcement however, WB Games and Rocksteady Have released a new teaser to make up for the delay that gives us a good look at the new Batmobile, with all of its fancy looking high tech weapons to boot. The IWG Games Team Last week we asked you, the readers, to tell us about your most favourite game of all-time. We received such an overwhelming response via our social networking channels afterwards and have narrowed down to just a select few we found to be the most compelling. So did your favourite make the cut? Find out here! By Mahesh Subramaniam 'In Sheep's Clothing.' Telltale Games is a studio dedicated to making episodic experiences that are highly-interactive, character-driven stories. The latest such release is the fourth episode of The Wolf Among Us which, unfortunately, was not the best example of their work. I won't go into too much detail to avoid spoilers if you haven't played the first three episodes. Wolf Among Us is a prequel to the comic book series Fables, which uses famous fairy-tale characters as their main characters. The IWG Games Team Lionsgate are partnering up with video games company Kabam to produce a mobile game adaptation of their successful Hunger Games movies, fitting into the genre of a card-collecting, role-playing strategy. Within the game, players will take control of District members across Panem who have been sent on a mission to build alliances and, ultimately, help rebuild the world. The game, like with Kabam’s other gaming titles, will be entirely free to play. By Luke Kirby It’s been almost three years since Nintendo fans were teased with a tech-demo of The Legend of Zelda on Wii U. We were shown a Twilight Princess graphical-style, in glorious HD. It showed an immense battle between Ghoma and Link ensue within a vast and ancient hall. Nintendo went on to highlight some of the capabilities the 'new' gamepad had to offer in at E3 such as changing the time of day to demonstrate new lighting effects, as well as switching camera angles. But there hasn’t been much information at all since. However Eiji Anouma promised he would say more about the new Zelda Wii U title to IGN at E3 in 2014, and my body is ready. By Paul Robert Scott Space based real-time strategy games tend to be a very niche market. Generally they are followed by ardent gamers that play them for years after the general public has forgotten about them, but still fans for the likes of Homeworld 2 or Sins of a Solar Empire stick loyally to them; with additional mods or total conversions keeping the gameplay experience fresh. By Ben Mapp >You wake up. The room is spinning very gently round your head. Or at least it would be if you could see it which you can’t. It is pitch black. What do you do? By Luke Kirby Since the franchise first started on the Nintendo 64 back in 1999 I’ve been an avid fan and loved every game in the series, which is odd for me as I usually despise the majority of fighting games. Jump to 2014 and the world is graced with another Smash Bros title on not just the home console of the Wii U but also the amazing handheld that is the 3DS, with the 3DS edition to be released in the summer and the Wii U version out in the winter… I’m expecting console bundles for the Christmas period. |
