Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (New Trailer)

Gearbox seem to be ramping things up for their latest installment in the Borderlands franchise, having just released a new trailer only hours ago, "The Pre-Sequel Moon Dance" trailer, hot off the heels of the Handsome Jack Pre-Sequel trailer they released a few weeks back. Things for the Pre-Sequel look very promising if the latest trailer is anything to go by.

Gearbox is making use their trademark sense of humour by accompanying the trailer with a dubstep-esque track, tantalizing fans with glimpses of the new characters, weapons, vehicles, enemies and 'moon base' location which are to be featured in the upcoming game.

In regards to where it fits into the continuity, The Pre-Sequel takes place before the events of Borderlands 2 and mainly focuses on Handsome Jack's personal story. Other plot details have been few and far between since the game was first announced, and that's certainly not changed much with this trailer. But then again, the Borderlands series has never been one to focus too heavily upon its storytelling. Its strength has always come from the popular "shoot and loot" aspect of it's gameplay - taking on hoards of enemies with cool freaking guns alongside friends.

This new trailer therefore has it all. It showcases the new weapons on offer (for instance, there's ice weapons this time! Heck yeah!) and the new characters (you can play as a claptrap unit in this one) in the midst of kick-ass gunfights against the newly introduced 'moon monsters', while things explode and people hop around in low gravity.
Some people feared that the Pre-Sequel would end up being a glorified piece of DLC, filling in before and if Gearbox announce Borderlands 3. This trailer goes towards squashing those fears somewhat as with the amount presented, it seems to warrant this as the full-length game Gearbox have been toting it to be. All the scope, mayhem and fun that were present in Borderlands 2 appear to be back, so now all we have to do is put on our Sunday best and wait for a billion to get "BAZILLIONDIESTIER."

HELL YEAH, HIT ME WITH THAT WUB WUB!

The Pre-Sequel will be released on the PlayStation S3 and Xbox 360 on the 14th October 2014.
