It’s time for all of the poorer gamers to rejoice. So far this year the only upcoming Assassin’s Creed game was frustratingly next-gen exclusive, but Ubisoft (unlike the aristocracy of 16th Century Paris) have answered the cries of the lower working class.
Enter Assassin’s Creed: Rogue…
The full story synopsis has appeared on Amazon, where the game is now available for pre-order:
'18th century, North America. Amidst the chaos and violence of the French and Indian War, Shay Patrick Cormac, a fearless young member of the Assassin Brotherhood, undergoes a dark transformation that will forever shape the future of the American colonies. After a dangerous mission gone tragically wrong, Shay turns his back on the Assassins who, in response, attempt to end his life. Cast aside by those he once called brothers, Shay sets out on a mission to wipe out all who turned against him and ultimately become the most feared Assassin hunter in history.
Introducing Assassin's Creed Rogue, the darkest chapter in the Assassin's Creed franchise yet. As Shay, you will experience the slow transformation from Assassin to Assassin Hunter. Follow your own creed and set off on an extraordinary journey through New York City, the wild river valley, and far away to the icy cold waters of the North Atlantic in pursuit of your ultimate goal to bring down the Assassins.'
It has also been suggested that this game will see the return of Templar Grandmaster Haytham Kenway, the first playable character of Assassin’s Creed III and who also appeared in the mid-credits scene of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag as the young son of pirate Edward Kenway. It is no surprise that Haytham is being reintroduced as he is widely regarded to be one of the more popular aspects of Assassin's Creed III which, in general, received a mixed response upon release.
The game will see the return of the popular naval exploration and combat as featured heavily in Black Flag, but this time set in the frozen North Atlantic ocean (encountering objects such as ice bergs) as opposed to the tropical West Indies. Your ship, the Morrigan, will allow you to traverse this sea and navigate to new locations.
