If you're anything like us, you'll lap at the feet of anything remotely Portal-related. Perhaps it is our hope to one day see Half-Life 3 finally escape the vaults of Gabe Newell, but the wait is likely to continue being a long one. In the meantime it looks up to the more dedicated fanbase to provide us with what Valve have yet to.
...And it looks awesome!
At some point in time between the events of Portal and Portal 2, a mute test subject (Mel) is released from a long slumber to find the facility around her in ruins. Encouraged to escape the wreckage of the once-so-lively laboratories, Mel discovers a rudimentary version of the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device and, accompanied by a personality core, seeks to navigate through the scientific mazes and - like Chell before her - ultimately find a way out (hopefully without being recaptured). The mod has been in active development for three years and promises over twenty new puzzle rooms, a whole new storyline and accompanying dialogue, freshly designed textures models and animations as well as access to the unique 70's style Portal Gun. The mod is of course free to play, requiring only an installed edition of Portal 2 on one's system in order to play. The Steam community has greenlit the project, with Valve now urging the developers to begin moving towards its release.
It is likely that the mod will be released before April this year. You can check out the awesome trailer below!
