While over-looking a, to be honest, disappointing San Diego Comic-Con, I found the leaked picture of the model of The Thing from the Fantastic Four reboot, and this got me thinking, where the hell was the Fantastic Four reboot at Comic-Con? This is a film coming out in June....next year! 

We saw more of Dawn of Justice, which doesn’t come out for another two freaking years. And it worked because everyone is talking about Batman/Superman more than anything. With Marvel coming up short and not much else happening at Comic-Con this year, 20th Century Fox really should have taken advantage of this. They should have had the director, Josh Trank, and the writers, Simon Kinberg and Jeremy Slater, turn up and give an update on the film so far, or, even better, have the first photo op of all principal actors, all together for the first time (Yes, they really haven’t done that yet). So what’s going on with this reboot? Why do we know so little about it with less than a year before it’s released?

James Gunn may be the man helming the next big hit, Guardians of the Galaxy, but before that he made another superhero film in Super, which isn't very good at all.

Frank D'Arbo (Rainn Wilson) gets left by his drug addict wife (Liv Tyler) for a douchebag drug dealer that no one would ever date (a wonderfully hammy Kevin Bacon). So for some reason, D'Arbo decides to suit up and be a superhero to get her back. But then he spends most of the movie just fighting random crime that has nothing to do with his wife. It's cool though, he ends up trying to get her in the end. James Gunn wants to focus on throwing his particular brand of outlandish, grotesque humor at the audience, like he so wonderfully did in Slither and his PG Porno internet series, but then he tries to give the film heart and emotion. This is where it completely falters and the whole thing ends up feeling like a really cheap, unevenly toned mess.

The Apple Store on Regents Street is once again packed. A large crowd has gathered before the set stage and the cameras are in place. Every seat is filled with additional seating at the sides. Looking at the crowd a theme is clear with Captain America Shields and Marvel signs on more than a few tees. You could easily guess that Marvel have assembled, (get it) a new film from its core of heroes The Avengers. The second in the super franchise is not until next year but till then we look at a group from the other end of the Marvel universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy is the latest Marvel comic series to make its way to the big screen. Based on the adventures of intergalactic traveller Peter Quill aka Star Lord and a band of outcasts who vow to protect the galaxy.

The film is directed by Indie film maker James Gunn and stars Saturdays Night Lives Chris Pratt. Also starring in the film is WWF Wrestler Dave Bautista.

Cute creatures have always been used as a draw to family films. They can strike an instant link with audiences old and young alike. With animation, an array of cute creatures can either be the ingenuity of animators working with a good story or a gimmick to appeal to children. Sadly, The Nut Job falls into the latter category as an unimaginative and underdeveloped film.

Have you ever heard a plot so ridiculous that it just had to be awesome? Well, that definitely seems to be the case for the upcoming comedy Pixels. Just listen to this: Aliens misinterpret classic video games as a declaration of war and attack the Earth, using the games as models. The President of the United States (Kevin James) calls upon his childhood best friend and former video game champion (Adam Sandler) to lead a team of old school arcaders (Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage) to defeat the aliens and save the planet.

Come on, how stupid does that sound? Very, to be honest. But it has so much potential to be awesome. An image has been released from the film, depicting Sandler, Gad and Dinklage (who, for Game of Thrones fans, is looking very questionable) in matching blue outfits with Michelle Monaghan dressed to impress. What’s going on in this picture? Who knows? But my guess is some kind of cheesy, slow motion walk as the heroes prepare for battle.

The casting of Kevin James and Adam Sandler is sure to put people off, considering they haven’t made a good film for years, but for gamers, this could be one hell of a film.
