by Jo Johnstone Experiment 626 (which may, or may not be Stitch's real name) is an event embarked on by the I'm With Geek Film Team. Film knowledge was unearthed, truths were found and a DVD exchange took place. These are the true life stories from that experiment... For Jo from Hayley M is the precursor to all of cinemas greatest anti-heroes and villain protagonists. It's lead, played brilliantly by Peter Lorre, is a child murderer, but what it examines is how society's witch hunts for criminals can often make them as evil as the criminal themselves. In that way, it's quite ahead of its time, considering the way tabloid newspapers whip up ill-informed hatred at every opportunity. Yes, the killer is an evil man, but he's not the only one capable of evil. by Jo Johnstone Stop-motion animation. A beautiful and yet truly painstaking form of animation is still going strong today. In the mainstream, many animators have moved steadily towards the preferred form of CGI leaving a small, creative niche for stop-motion to flourish. From Aardman to Tim Burton, the medium has produced some genuine classics. With Movies in Motion, we look at a chosen sequence of stop-motion to celebrate on the last Friday of every month. by Jack Morris In a world where it appears that any movie can be turned into a musical (American Psycho, we’re looking at you) it still comes as quite a shock to hear that the much loved, cult movie Back to the Future is coming to the stage. Fear not though BTTF fans as the team behind the original trilogy are actually the ones who are producing this version as well. Robert Zemekis who directed the films and co-wrote them Bob Gale have apparently been playing with the idea for the past decade, and seeing how 2015 marks the 30th anniversary of the first film, the timing couldn’t have been better. by Paul Costello Experiment 626 (which may, or may not be Stitch's real name) is an event embarked on by the I'm With Geek Film Team. Film knowledge was unearthed, truths were found and a DVD exchange took place. These are the true life stories from that experiment... For Paul from Robbie I picked Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. Paul strikes me as the kind of guy who enjoys a crime drama, especially with his choices of Brick and Rope, and this film is a masterpiece of the genre. On top of that, the film is packed with tense scenes that are bound to keep him engaged (Going by the likes of his other films) and some immensely good acting, something he seems to know when he sees it (I'm not sure if that's any good but hey ho) by Paul Costello “Legendary” is a term too often thrown about nowadays. A word meant to illustrate a state of timeless magnificence and virtually intractable stature now gets used to describe a multitude of things, from people of great historical significance to those really good nachos you had at that place last week. However, rarely does the term come to have quite the strength and versatility of meaning as it does when talking about something like Mommie Dearest. |
