A pirate steals a recipe and it becomes the task of Spongebob, Patrick, Mr Krabs, Squidward, Sandy and Plankton, to travel to our dimension and get the recipe back. To do so, they each become super heroes, acquiring their own superpowers (except Sandy, who remains herself, as she always kicks arse anyway.)
The first movie always seemed quite peculiar when it combined the cartoon with the real world, and seeing the trailer, as some of the world’s most popular cartoon characters exit the water, you can’t help but think it looks a bit... odd. Of course, there have been many films (and some great ones recently) that combine CGI characters with real life, but those characters seem real, where as the ones in this movie doesn’t. Perhaps that is the way it’s meant to be, everyone knows Spongebob as a cartoon and so maybe they wanted to keep him as such. It is interesting to combine real life people and props with cartoons.
What is quite comical is that the release date changed from February 13th 2015 to the 6th so as to not clash with the release of 50 Shades of Grey.
Don’t worry Nickelodeon, I don’t think that 50 Shades will steal any of your audience.
