by Cookie N Screen Last night, a whirlwind of British talent came through the doors of the Royal Opera House as the biggest British Film Awards kicked off. With the big favourites 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle and Gravity poised to take awards and with a lot of upset at previous awards, could there be a massive bout of disappointment at this year’s awards or will there be a glorious array of deserved winners, beaming down gladly on everyone as we praise the BAFTAs? Well, what do you think? by Gloria Daniels-Moss Oh yes, it’s that time again! With the Golden Globes already behind us, the next one up is the British Academy awards formal known as BAFTA. This year we have already seen some truly stunning features, from ground breaking visual effects to great performances that will make you laugh and cry, 2013 was certainly a good year for the industry. So here goes – along with a list on nominations I have predicted who I think will go home with the trophy and a quick reason why. by Robbie Jones The BAFTA's are upon us, and this week, were treated with the nominees for the EE Rising Star award, the award that acknowledges the talent of up and coming actors who are going nowhere but the top (And yes, I’m still angry Tom Hiddleston didn’t win 2 years ago). The nominees were decided by a jury including Gemma Arterton, Empire’s Chris Hewitt, Pippa Harris and one of our favourites, Mark Kermode. So, let’s take a look at their choices: by Paul Costello This morning, the film world awoke to the sound of fanfares the 2014 British Academy Film Award nominations were announced in London. Gravity is the big swinger this year with 11 nominations (including Best Film and Best British Film, an honour shared by Philomena). Behind them in the award count 12 Years A Slave and American Hustle, both of which scored 10 nominations each. |
