The world is in mourning as one of our most beloved cinematic actors has passed away. The much beloved Harold Ramis, famed for his role in Ghostbusters, died earlier today at the age of 69. Chicago-Born Ramis, who had been diagnosed with a long term illness, succumbed to autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis. However, as we are sad at this passing, we all remember the life, spirit and character he brought to the silver screen and how our childhoods, future and past, will never forget the impact his work did.
by Olivia Grey If you have been counting down the days until you can buy Thor: The Dark World on DVD or Blu-ray, the wait is now over. Being a Thor fan myself, I will be buying a copy. The sequel to Thor (2011) and the eighth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, T:TDW once again follows The God of Thunder, this time in his quest to save the Nine Realms from the Dark Elves, lead by Malekith The Accursed. The only problem is, to do this, Thor must make an unlikely ally; his arch-enemy and adopted brother Loki. Add to the mix that Thor's love interest Jane Porter comes across something one would not wish to come across, Thor has a lot on his hands in this film! by Liam McMillen The romantic comedy genre, or rom-com if you like, is a difficult genre to sell. This is because, unlike practically any other type of film, the basic premise will be exactly the same between each romantic drama. The plot is always going to be the same. The two main characters are going to get together at the end of the film and everyone is going to live together happily ever after – or are they? This is why I love (500) Days of Summer. It's different. This is not a love story, this is a story about love as the tag line tells us. by Matthew Howe An old school chum of mine calls to hire me for a job. She grew up in the upstate New York town of Goldens Bridge, a town just about to celebrate its 75th anniversary. They're marking the occasion with a massive party and want a video made to document the event for future generations. I don't know much about Goldens Bridge. I'd seen the name on signs as I drove by on the highway, and may even have passed through it once or twice. My memory tells me it's a quiet, simple sort of place of winding roads and neat little houses set on charming, wooded tracts. Goldens Bridge does boast one famous citizen, Oscar winning actress Marisa Tomei grew up there. She will, I am told, be attending the party. Which is cool. But not that cool because I have a standing policy about not getting excited about working with celebrities. (The only time I've ever violated this was when I did a shoot with Matt Stone and Trey Parker. But that's a tale for another day). by Leah Stone The world primarily knows him as Loki, Thor’s evil brother, Asgardian Prince and the God of Mischief. However, British star Tom Huddleston has made quite a name for himself, not just with his role as Loki, but in countless other films, television series and as a stereotypical, lovable British gentleman. The world adores him, but what caused Mr Hiddleston to become so famous? Is it his acting ability? His way with the fans? Or perhaps just his adorableness? Well, you are here to find out. by Jo Johnstone This is not a true story, it’s a love story. The tag line for A New York Winter’s Tale, the screen adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Mark Helprin. Set in New York and spanning more than a century in the life of one man, Peter Lake, (Colin Farrell). It explores the presence of good and evil as well as miracles within each of us. Although the film has very admirable intentions and moments of enjoyment; its a film that has lost something in its move to the big screen. |
