Another film included Harbour of Hope by Magnus Gertten. The film focuses on the mobilisation of Swedish city Malmo in 1945. After being liberated after the war, the concentration camp survivors and people flock to Sweden try to regain their lives. Talking to survivors and enhanced by archive footage, this sees the prisoners free again including 10 year old Irene. This is set to be a powerful and stirring documentary.
The Domino Effect is also screening. The film is the story of the prime minister of Abkhazia in a barely recognised microstate. The country is in a post-Soviet frozen conflict zone and Sports minister Rafael is trying to put his motherland back on the map. Conflicting comedy and political commentary, this looks like an enthralling film.
Finally, there is Red Forrest. Coming from Finnish Director Mika Koskinen, the movie revolves around China and how it became the world’s economic powerhouse. Focusing millions on recycling and renewable energy, the film is poignant look at how China is funnelling it’s resources into the environment.
