The director swaps Iron Man suits for pots and pans as he also takes the lead role playing Carl Casper, an amazing chef who quits his job at a prominent LA restaurant when his controlling boss (Dustin Hoffman) disapproves of his creative recipes. Left to figure out what’s his left, where he teams up with his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara), his best friend (John Leguizamo) and son and they take to the roads in a food van, where Carl reignites his passion for cooking, and his zest for life and love.
Favreau, who not only directed and starred in but also wrote the film, reunites with his Iron Man 2 co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. for this hilarious and heart warming comedy, hitting screen on May 9th.
The premiere was held on Tuesday, and attended by stars Jon Favreau, Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo, Emjay Anthony and the Emmy Winning of Boardwalk Empire, Bobby Cannavale. Everyone was dressed to impress, most notably Sofia Vergara in a beautiful white dress, while Emjay Anthony rocked out in his awesome Fedora and Velvet jacket.
The Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2002 by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff, and has premiered several interesting and critically acclaimed films from around the world. This year is no exception, with great films lined up such as Land Ho!, an old-guys-on-the-road movie about two brother in laws who travel to Iceland, Nancy Kates’ Regarding Susan Sontag, a documentary about the life and works of the influential writer and public intellectual, and Keep on Keepin’ On, the emotional documentary that tags on the heart strings, as ailing Jazz trumpet icon Clark Terry mentors young blind prodigy Justin Kauflin.
Chef is out on May 9th.
