Set in a dystopian X-Men future, Days of Future Past revolves around the destruction of earth and a bleak outlook for humanity and mutants. In order to prevent it, they send Wolverine back into the past to put a stop to it; uniting both younger and older elements of X-Men to save the future. But Wolverine is met with a Xavier he doesn’t know, a bitter and depressed younger one who is struggling with the events of First Class. Can Wolverine raise him up to be the man we all know? Can they all save the future? X-Men: Days of Future Past will answer all of the and more.
While this trailer isn’t as great as the previous one that was bustling with voice-overs and dramatic one-liners, it certainly has a smattering of brilliance. Those who are unsure of the plot will be thankful this trailer dropped and to get a glimpse at our beloved characters who were missed when the series reinvented itself, means that older and new will combined for an epic sequel to some astonishing work. And look at that cast; James McAvoy, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicolas Hault, Ellen Page and Halle Berry? The list goes on and despite the annoyance that Wolverine is back (though we all love a bit of Hugh Jackman,) we can brim with glee that this looks like the best coming together to be awesome. Especially with everyone’s favourite BFF’s, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, sparring off with each other and their younger selves.
May 22nd cannot come quick enough and Marvel is proving yet again that it holds the crown when It comes to comic book movies.
