Considering this is written by Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin’s, who gave us the ever popular Outnumbered, Drop the Dead Donkey and Not the Nine O'Clock News, it's evident this is going to have some pretty dark adult humour - which isn’t a bad thing. Even after seeing this short snippet, the trailer already gives us a taste of hilarious one-liners and there are sure to be buckets more throughout the film. One could go on all day about how good Tennant is, albeit the entire cast is pretty impressive. With the likes of comedian Billy Connolly, Ben Miller and Celia Imrie, this really has the potential to be great. Acting as Tennant’s wife we have Rosamund Pike, known for Jack Reacher, the recent The World’s End and Wrath of the Titans, it shall be interesting to see how she handles this comedy role.
Just off the bat of the cast list, I am sure this is going to generate a fair bit of interest. The fact that it also appears to be the makings of a good old British comedy is simply a bonus. Perhaps one for all the family, although you never know how far Connolly is going to push it until it is too late. Heading for cinemas this September, check out the trailer for What We Did On Our Holiday. I'm sure a few Scots will be offended with the association made between its beautiful picturesque mountainsides and dreary Watford, but hey!
