The latest cinematic treats for UK audiences come in the form of a new trailer and TV spot for What If, the upcoming rom-com that hopes to inject a bit of wit and charm into the sometimes tired-out genre. With the release of the new trailer and TV spot, Entertainment One flaunts its impressive cast, with former boy wizard himself, Daniel Radcliffe, hoping to make sure audiences recognize him as a talented actor, not a former child star.
The amusing 30 second TV spot sees Adam Driver in his ‘best-friend’ character of Allan, who introduces Wallace to his cousin, Chantry, and also expresses his love for nachos rather outlandishly. The dialogue (upon first listen) does sound funny and not overly cliché, and the whole affair looks distinctly self-aware as to its subject matter about whether men and women can just be friends (of course!). | In the new UK trailer, we can see Radcliffe’s Wallace re-arranging magnetic words of a fridge magnet to spell out ‘love is stupid’ in true cynical style (or realist depending on your stance), and having a rather unfortunate encounter with Chantry’s boyfriend, who he accidently pushes off a balcony; awkward. Zoe Kazan is on full form in the trailer as the fun-loving and witty Chantry, who, in the trailer, gets in rather a tight situation with a dress she likes, whilst also hammering Wallace at ping pong. |
