Lee (Keener) is a war photographer who travels to Sicily instead of going back home to New York, to try and forget her experience as a hostage in Libya. Whilst there, she crosses paths with her former lover and mentor Albert (Kingsley) and tries to help Hasfia, a young Tunisian woman migrating to Africa.
War Story looks to be one of the most gripping dramas of 2014, with good reviews having already poured in from the Sundance Film Festival. The film’s director is relatively unheard of, having only previously directed one film (2011’s Without) and Keener (who seems to be making a habit of playing women with ex's named Albert) and Kingsley are the only well known cast members, with the rest being quite unknown. Hopefully, this means bringing some new talent forward for recognition.
War Story has a fine cast, looks tense, gripping and emotional, and the reviews from Sundance promise a good watch.
