The film follows Molly (Poehler) and Joel (Rudd) who despite everything that is going on in their lives fall madly in love with each other – almost as if it was a lovey dovey Hollywood film script… oh wait it kind of is. Except it doesn’t look like it is all chocolates and roses. Not a killer story-line by any means and from what we see in the first few glimpses this new rom-com seems to be a fairly run-of-the-mill film. However, if one looks closer They Came Together does look to have some potential.
Yes, it looks incredibly slapstick and appears to have a few cheap laughs, albeit with this all star comedy cast it must have something hidden up its sleeve. The cast consists of Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, The Hangover’s Ed Helms and a rather spicy appearance from How I met your Mother’s Cobie Smulders. With such a cast being so au fait with comedy acting, this shouldn’t be anything they can’t handle and one has to remember that at the end of the day this simply looks like a bit of fun!
With lots of falling flat on their faces and destroying kitchens, They Came Together is released this summer. Have a watch of the trailer and see if it takes your fancy.
