The trailer is exactly the kind of thing we have come to expect from the series, a showcase of heavy artillery, bombs, helicopters and muscle. I would hope there are some memorable lines for the kids in the playground as well as some completely impossible high flying stunts to act out on the climbing frame (not recommended).
New team, Stallone extends his crew of actions legends even further this time around with Wesley Snipes, Kelsey Grammar and Harrison Ford all stepping out into the fray to join some familiar faces (Arnold Schwarzeneggar, Dolph Lungdren, Jet Li and Jason Statham all reprising their roles) and do battle with Mel Gibson, who has been drafted in as chief antagonist Conrad Stonebanks.
New attitude, as with all great action flicks, there is a score to be settled. Barney Ross (Stallone) and Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson) have a history. They founded ‘The Expendables’ together. Stonebanks’ career has since taken a darker path and following a bit of a breakdown as BFF’s, Barney was forced to kill him. In the dust of his supposed demise, Stonebanks has re-positioned himself as formidable arms dealer with a penchant for revenge and a mission to destroy The Expendables once and for all.
Billed as the final instalment, and with almost as many action legends as cheesy one-liners, I think it would be fair not to expect huge amounts in terms of intricate and complex storylines. But, if you like your action sprinkled with clichés and your explosions to take out entire cities then The Expendables 3 is probably going to be for you.
