OF MONTHS OF FAKE FAN MADE TRAILERS AND AGONY OF WAITING...IT'S FINALLY HERE!
That's right you action buffs, The Expendables 3 teaser trailer is officially here and GOD DAMN it is amazing.
In the previous Expendables films we have encountered bad guys with Eric 'Silver Fox' Roberts and Jean-Claude Van Damme, but now we will meet a different kind of bad guy...Mel Gibson. And Gibson's character of Conrad Stonebanks has revenge on the mind.
Stonebanks was a co-founder of the Expendables with Barney Ross AKA Sylvester Stallone. And Ross was forced to kill Stonebanks...yep well he is so not dead, so you can imagine the score that has to be settled. That synopsis right there should make any action buff want to to go see this film. I mean how many great action films were based purely around revenge, and how brutal were they? Now a lot of you might be looking at this trailer and thinking 'Okay there are way too many actors in this film', and that is a total risk, there is no doubt about that. But if you have watched the other films you can see that all the actors do in fact get 'their moment' on the screen to show off all their crazy awesome skills.
There is a risk that this could end up like X-Men 3: The Last Stand, which just had every character in the film and it was just too distracting from whatever was significant in that plot. What is great about the Expendables franchise is that, these are films you can get excited about. You can go into these films and know exactly what you are going to get. You will get oh so many guns, swift and sexy knife action, exceptionally choreographed fight sequences, and countless muscles..oh and just think of the muscles! Try not to drool too much.
The previous Expendables films are just pure joy, excitement and you can see the heart and dedication that Stallone has put into getting all these action and martial art heroes in two films. These films are made for the fans of the action genre. The genre which is known as the bastard child of Hollywood, but Stallone makes it clear through the previous films that action isn't going anywhere and that they are just as relevant than any other genre. Sure the glory days of the action genre could quite possibly be over now, but having films like The Expendables just shows that there is still a need for these films amongst the fans of action.
Expendables 3 is already going to attract haters, but you know what don't go in thinking you are going to hate this because it isn't going to have a solid and wonderfully constructed plot. Go into this film knowing that this will be a throwback to 80's and 90's action films, with cheesy one liners, and just brutal violence and action, with an extremely simple plot. That's it!
