The first two promos present Tammy robbing, then unrobing the same fast food joint before hitting the road with her Grandma Pearl. While showing some clips we are already familiar with from the previous teasers, we are provided with various new material to only make us more excited for its release. For the first time we are presented with the hours before her life took a turn for the worse, and plot clues are starting to appear. The theft we have witnessed now has a clear motif; Tammy was fired from her job.
Tammy runs over a deer, which in turn throws her a few strong kicks before running away. From here, her day only gets worse. She needs to get away, but she has no money and no car. The only option is to invite her Grandma who can provide both of these necessities. Although this isn’t the escape Tammy had in mind, it sure does look like a funny one.
Having found McCarthy’s previous movies such as Identity Thief and The Heat utterly hilarious, I have found myself completely loving any character that she portrays. Although I am aware this could be an unpopular opinion as some think McCarthy is nothing short of annoying and repetitive in her acting, I for one have very high expectations for her approaching production.
McCarthy co-wrote the script alongside Ben Falcone, who also directs. Supporting McCarthy are Toni Collette, Allison Janney, Sandra Oh, Dan Aykroyd, Gary Cole and Kathy Bates.
Opening July 4th, sit back and see what you think of the upcoming comedy…
