And it is funny you should mention America (or I mentioned it,) because those pesky British youngsters are causing havoac in Maimi and upsetting the roost of a prominent gangsta. Starring Will Poulter, Alfie Allen (yes, brother to Lilly) and a girl from Hollyoaks, Plastic is about a group of scammers who commit credit card fraud on a daily basis to fund their university degree (I suppose getting a job was out of the question.) When the glistening gold of Miami beckons them over, they start running their schemes only to be pulled up in front of Marcel, a real tough cookie who threatens to kill them. With tensions mounting and friendships being scuppered, can the gang pull together in order to raise the much needed cash?
With Will Poulter in one of the roles, it’s hardly going to be that bad because he has undeniable charisma and talent. Alongside some other great players here, Plastic looks like it might be fairly decent especially with A Lonely Place To Die director Julian Gilby at the helm. Though the wounds from Springbreakers hasn’t been fully licked and this has a pinch of that, there may be some tongue in cheek hilarity and promising action to keep you satisfied. It’s The Inbetweeners meets The Italian Job with all the sunshine Florida can muster.
Plastic it may be called, but time will tell if it has a plastic soul.
