In this dystopian landscape we see Nicolas Cage as pilot Rayford Steele, who becomes the main man in dealing with the situation as his co-pilot, who was actually flying the plane got taken. The actual premise sounds like it could be interesting, but to kick start a franchise off that has fifteen books already is a pretty big step. From what we see in this trailer, it seems the films main focus is CGI special effects and running from catastrophic natural disasters. Albeit, what do you expect from a stunt man turned director?
The film sees Vic Armstrong take this one on, who other than acting as stunt co-ordinator on many films has only directed a handful. The film also stars One Tree Hill’s Chad Michael Murray, new comer Cassi Thompson as Steele’s daughter, Lea Thompson, Nicky Whelan, Martin Klebba and The Blind Side’s Quinton Aaron.
This looks to be a chaotic drama, that really could go either way. Perhaps this is the disaster film we have all been waiting for? Or is it just simply another film where the budget goes on the lead actor and that’s that? Left Behind crashes into US cinemas on the 3rd October, 2014. But as of yet the UK still doesn’t have a release date. What do you think Left Behind holds?
