And then suddenly someone just decided to rid the streets of pure glory and all the dirt-bags decided to settle in on their turf and make ‘quality’ films. So now it’s time for the fans of this genre to take back what is theres and create a new film, a throwback with credibility, imagination and authenticity, and that will be done with a film called Kung Fury. The one thing that will definitely grab peoples attention is that this looks like an exact trailer from the 1980’s that you would find on a VHS tape; that fact right there should make anyone want to watch this film.
Kung Fury is an independently made action/comedy which is set in the 1980’s in Miami(where a lot of great 80’s films were made). The main premise is of a guy called Kung Fury; he is a renegade cop on a mission to avenge his friends assassination by the evil Adolf Hitler AKA Kung Fuhrer. So Fury must travel back in time to kill Hitler once and for all. Now if that premise doesn’t scream "holy shit balls!" then I don’t know what does! Kung Fury is a film which isn’t exactly complete. Yet there is enough footage to release a 30 minute short film, but if you are a fan of the trailer and the overall awesomeness of this genre and style of film, then you can donate towards the film so it can be completed.
There may be a lot of people out there that see this trailer and think several things, one of them which would be ‘take my money now!’ which is totally the natural reaction to all things awesome. Or ‘What the hell is this random crap?’. To the people who are just confused by what they have seen, re-watch the trailer again and again, until you understand how brilliant it really is. If you still don’t get it, then clearly you don’t understand the 80’s and that back then there were no rules; must have been all that cocaine in the air.
What is great about this trailer is that you can totally see every single influence and if you are a fan of these kind of films, you will be able to name at least 50 titles which are in some way shape or form like Kung Fury. Just by looking at the trailer you can tell that the film maker of this project David Sandberg really loved these movies, and probably watched a lot of those films repeatedly. Because portraying what he has on screen in a two minute trailer just conveys that this guy knows how to keep this project as authentic as possible. Sandberg has definitely lived and breathed the source material and seeing that passion for a style of film that most people want to forget and relishing every minute of it is what film making is all about.
If you do want to help out this great cause on getting this film completed please head over to the Kickstarter page- and you will be able to see how you can help out with your kind donations, and there are also some goodies you will receive if you do decide to back the film. Get on board, it’s a really great cause!
I have donated, it’d make me a hypocrite not to!
