From what we see here, this isn’t a film for all the family. There is blood, sex, violence and quite frankly the story delves into some serious subjects. We know this is going to be jam packed with fight scenes, gun fire and theatrical choreographed punch ups, but isn’t that was Anime is all about? This Matrix, Kill Bill come Kick Ass narrative does however look very slick and sexy. India looks great dressed up in bright colours and bunches, as well as Jackson resonating coolness in his standard sunglasses and black jacket get up. In the past live-action anime’s have been known not to translate too well on screen, yet this looks like it could be very entertaining and true to its origins. With the original director David R. Ellis passing away during filming, the film was left in the hands of fairly unknown director Ralph Ziman. Let’s hope Ziman successfully achieves Ellis’s innovative take on bringing Umetsu’s story alive on screen.
At this stage there is not set date in the UK for Kite, but if you are lucky enough to be in the states you can catch it through DirecTV channel on 28th August before it lands in cinema on 10th October, 2014. Hopefully they won’t keep us waiting too long for this one over the pond! Let us know if you think this is worth your time.
