The trailer focuses on the basic plot of the film; following on from the events in Horrible Bosses, Nick (Jason Bateman), Dale (Charlie Day), and Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) tire of being under control by their senior bosses, and instead decide to, in fact, become their own bosses by launching their own business. This soon spirals out of control, as after a rival investor takes them down, the trio become desperate enough to hatch yet another misguided plan, which involves kidnapping the investor’s son in order to ransom him so they can once again regain control of their company – because that’s totally going to work, with no problems...whatsoever. Fortunately, the only redeeming factor of the film comes from its cast, as in the new trailer we can see the return of the formidable Kevin Spacey in his role as the recently incarcerated David Harken, whilst Jennifer Aniston reprises her role as Dr. Julia Harris. If that wasn’t enough, Jamie Foxx also reprises his role as Dean Jones, whilst new actors are brought into the fold to play the investor and his son, in the form of Christopher Waltz and Chris Pine, respectively. With so much acting talent and frankly, an abysmal premise for the film, we hope the talents of its cast aren’t squandered on ridiculous gags and misogynistic jokes...again.
The new trailer, does little to shed any light as to why the trio are keen to visit Spacey’s Harken in prison, or why Julia Harris turns up again, considering this is supposed to be about them kidnapping a guy’s kid, but the trailer certainly tries to detract attention away from this by incorporating in some slow-mo walking, plenty of guns, oodles of money, and some shots of Pine’s character in the trunk of a car. Make of Horrible Bosses 2 what you will, but the new trailer proves more mystifying than self-explanatory, considering its basic plot.
Horrible Bosses 2 will hit screens in the UK on the 28th November later this year, whilst it will grace screens in the USA on the 26th November.
