The film centres on young British Muslim Mona, (Aiysha Hart), as she falls in love with a Punjabi boy Tanvir, (Nikesh Patel). The relationship is forbidden by her traditional family driving her to run away with her boyfriend. Instead of accepting their daughters decision the family decide to have her killed in the name of honour. Hiring Considine’s bounty hunter to track her down and commit the horrific act.
The film has matched its gritty subject matter with a rough thriller feel. Set in and filmed on the streets of West London the trailer has a hunter feel to it. We watch as Consindine’s character is charged and paid to kill a young girl simply for loving a boy. The rest of the trailer is fast paced images of the characters on the run. Just how new comer director Khan handles the complicated topic of honour killing will have to be seen.
There is one thing that sells this trailer and is almost guarantee to make it a worthwhile event, Paddy Considine. The offensively good British actor here returns to a darker characters like his dark avenger in Dead Man’s Shoes. Hes had a break with a great comedy turn in The World’s End as well as a stink behind the camera in the impressive Tyrannosaur. Here the actor looks to emerce himself in the brutal and haunted characters he is so brilliant at. With a release date of April 4th and a fast tracked DVD release three weeks later we hope the film is as interesting as it looks and gets seen in its short release time.
