The film is an interpretation of the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt as led by Moses (Christian Bale) in the Old Testament Book of Exodus. The trailer shows off the relationship between Moses and the Pharaoh Rhamses (Joel Edgerton), followed by several shots of soldiers fighting on horseback. The trailer ends as Moses warns Rhamses (Something is coming), before we see a horse startled by an oncoming wave.
This will be our second biblical epic of 2014, following Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, and it looks rather amazing. Visually it’s stunning, and it has a great cast to boot, (those not seen or mentioned in the trailer include John Turturro, Ben Mendelsohn, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kinglsey and Aaron Paul). As with all films based on biblical films, it may come under fire at release for any religious inaccuracies or misinterpretations it may make, but that shouldn’t stop from being one hell of a film, and a return to form for Mr. Scott.
Exodus: Gods and Kings is released December 12th.
