Delivered by director Cal Brunker, a man who usually lends his talent to the art department brings us a new cartoon tale of adventure. Welcome to the planet Baab where we are introduced to the publically admired astronaut Scorch Supernova voiced by funny man Brendan Fraser. Scorch is somewhat of a local Hero on his blue alien planet and once informed of an SOS message from a dangerous location he doesn’t hesitate to follow the distress call and bring help to those in need. Yet, this distress call was coming from a planet called Earth. Like most stories involving humans and aliens, the humans capture the alien’s and shove them into a contained environment called Area 51 – clever eh? It’s now down to Scorch’s incredibly nerdy and scrawny younger brother Gary (Rob Corddry) to come save him from the evil humans. Will he get Scorch back to his home planet or will get captured by the humans too?
Escape to Planet Earth looks to be a nifty little film with some laughs along the way – not to mention the scene with dying Wacky inflatable arm flaying tube man (Family Guy fans will be happy). With a supporting cast with the likes of Jessica Alba, William Shatner, Sarah Jessica Parker and Ricky Gervais, this alien comedy looks to be a smash hit. This indeed looks to be a funny, action adventure with some great looking alien animation.
Landing in cinemas on March 7th, we will leave you with the trailer and exclusive clip 'Airsick' !
