Whilst many book-to-film adaptations can go horribly wrong (in the sense that it’s just a ‘bad’ film on the whole that doesn’t accurately represent at least parts of the book), The Maze Runner doesn’t look half bad, and the new clip is short and sweet and doesn’t give too much away to an audience. It also establishes the main three rules to follow (as explained by Alby, portrayed by Aml Ameen) – “Do your part, do not harm another, and most importantly – never go beyond those walls.” Well, I can see where this might be going.
The Maze Runner centres around Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), a boy who wakes up trapped in a colossal maze with a bunch of other boys, and he has no memory of the outside world. Therefore he must piece together fragments of his past via clues he discovers in the maze to discover who he is and more importantly, how to get out of the maze he is currently in. The film certainly has an air of mystery surrounding it, and it’s satisfying to see that not everything is being given away via clips and trailers just yet.
The Maze Runner dashes into cinemas on the 19th September in the United States and later on the 24th October in the United Kingdom.
