Every year for 10 days, Cannes is the place that sees a swarm of filmic activity. Films receive their grand premier, there’s the competition for awards, filmmakers lobby for distribution, and news and press events are everywhere. For the duration of the event, everyone who has an interest in film has at least one eye on Cannes. If you want to make people of aware of your upcoming movie, making a splash at Cannes can be a big help.
You may therefore think it a little unnecessary for something like The Expendables 3 to need to make any kind of big declarative statement of presence. But, by the very nature of the project, it should perhaps be taken that it is absolutely necessary for Team Expendables to storm in on the red carpet like a rolling thunder.

Some might consider it rather tasteless to bring the roads to relatively temporary standstill whilst the cast of this year’s old school actioner rocked up to the Carlton Hotel in tanks, especially considering that there may be some who still remember what happened the last time tanks rolled through the streets of France. However, tastelessness is not really a consideration when you’re promoting the might of Hollywood and their latest carnage fest.

Tanks were driven, photos were taken, and cake was eaten. That’s right tanks and cake. These Hollywood types are living a life we can’t even dream of.
The Expendables 3 is due for release on August of this year. By then, all of the cake will be gone, but I'm sure Stallone will be only too happy to give a piece of ass-whooping!
