We have plenty of award shows telling us what the best films of the year are, but when it comes to the year’s biggest stinkers, we all turn to the Golden Raspberries, the award show that dishes out awards to the worst of the worst around Oscar season. The latest ceremony was held last night, and it seems they got it pretty bang on.
Cameron Diaz was awarded Worst Actress and rightfully so for her horrific performances in The Other Woman and Sex Tape, whilst her ill received remake of Annie took home Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel. Megan Fox got Worst Supporting Actress for her turn as April O’Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, beating the likes of Susan Sarandon (Tammy), Nicola Peltz (Transformers) and Cameron Diaz once again (Annie).
Finally, it’s not doom and gloom as the Razzie Redeemer award, awarded to previous Razzie winners who have made huge turnaround on their career went to Ben Affleck, The actor went from his Razzie winning performance in Gigli to Oscar winning work on Argo, as well a knock out performance in Gone Girl. Other nominees included Jennifer Aniston and Keanu Reeves, who have had multiple nominations over the years but have recently starred in the likes of Cake and John Wick.
So, Kirk Cameron was the biggest loser this year, no surprises really. That’s the Razzies over for another year, but 2015 is still young. There’s plenty of time to release to some even worse stinkers and no doubt they’ll be back next year to toast those cinematic travesties.
