Halloween is approaching and in this Halloweenie, Leah counts down the family friendly spooky movies...
It’s the month of Halloween and I cannot watch a horror/scary film without having nightmares for the rest of the year and hiding behind the sofa 99.9% of the time. I've decided that perhaps I should keep it to kid films that will more than likely be shown multiple times on TV over the course of this month.
This week I’m looking at ParaNorman, which, as you can tell by the ghost train analogy, is an animated film centred around the worlds of ghosts and spirits; the ‘other side.’
ParaNorman follows the quest of Norman Babcock, who looks like a normal kid but actually can speak to ghosts. So, not normal at all. He's not normal Norman. Norman seeks to break the witches curse that has plagued his home town for decades. The witch was tried and killed as a witch when she was a child. Now she’s come back to unleash her wrath on the innocent people of the town. Norman, as the only person able to see the ghost of the girl, decides it is his job to stop her, whilst seemingly being chased by the zombie versions of the jury that sentenced the girl to death..
With such amazing stop-motion use, a terrific plot and great voice actors, it’s hard not to love ParaNorman, and is one of those easy-to watch films for anyone this Halloween.
