Just when you think our love affair with the best cinema around has finished, we sneak back into those film bed sheets and fall in love with them all over again. Like a good tumble, these guys keep producing some of the hottest film events in the country. It’s not like us to gush (actually, it is completely like us to gush but this is different,) but you can have your Prince Charles Cinemas, you can keep your IMAX’s the one cinema we want to live in is this wonder. All these events are great fundraisings to build it up to a glorious palace and this weekend is just a bloody great cracking one too.

Wes Anderson is nothing short of a genius. Though some may not like his monotone wit, some reveal in his gleeful adventures and deadpan delivers on some pretty sharp humour. The Ritz are clear fans of the incredible director and tonight sees them continue a whole season completely dedicated to Wes. With such highlights as Rushmore and The Life Aquatic, tonight’s slice is arguably one of the best of Anderson’s work. Gene Hackman, Ben Stiller, and Luke Wilson amongst over stars as an intellectual family who are riddled with insecurities and issues. Check it out tonight!
If there is a director better than Wes Anderson, and I understand that comparing them is a bit of a dumb move because they are vastly different but Quentin Tarantino. What a genius! Not only is he able to produce some high octane action movie with lavishes of blood, violence and wit. And none of that is better than the Oscar Winning Pulp Fiction. Scooping up the award for Best Original Screenplay, it is a dark crime piece about mob hit men in Los Angeles that plays with the narrative and linear story structure. Everything is awesome, everything is cool when you are part of the team. Everything is awesome when we’re living our dream. Yes. That simply genius movie that amazed audiences everywhere and of every age. The Lego Movie is coming the Lincoln. This building block of a movie about Emmet, an ordinary worker who gets confused with being the special one that can stop his world from being taken over. With some of the funniest jokes you will ever see in a movie ever, I’d say take your kids but hell, you can just go by yourself because you will love it. Buy tickets for this Saturday!
What is the best thing about Flash Gordon? Is it the insanely cheesy lines? Is it the blonde bouffant lead? Is it clothing? The over the top villain? The soundtrack from Queen? No. No. I know what it is, it’s only BRIAN BLESSED! This Sunday he will be at The Ritz in Lincoln for a special Q&A and a screening of the fantasy adventure movie too!
