As the day of release fast approaches, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes comes bearing new gifts – in the form of our glorious Bumper News Edition! Oh yes, we’ve got exciting news images from a special screening event, news about a new public art exhibition related to the film AND tremendously exciting news about an exclusive scene that will air on TV...tonight! Intrigued?
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is of course the anticipated follow-up to 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, focusing on the growing nation of genetically evolved apes, led by Caeser (Andy Serkis). Their troupe is threatened by a group of humans who survived the virus that was unleashed a decade earlier, and the two groups struggle to reach a fragile peace, which is unfortunately short lived as both sides are thrust into a war to determine who will emerge as the Earth’s dominant species. Last night, a special screening of the film was held in Brooklyn, New York, at the Williamsburg Cinemas, with the legendary Andy Serkis and Keri Russell (who portrays Ellie, a nurse and Malcolm’s wife) in attendance. | There are also two new images from the exhibition which echo the census of the piece; ‘ABUSE BEGETS ABUSE’ and ‘BRUTALITY BEGETS BRUTALITY’. The two phrases are both quite heavily stylized and atmospheric amongst the underground spaces, in which the exhibition is held, and this particular inspiration from the films are presented in quite a claustrophobic and dark atmosphere, which just further emphasises its connection to the films in which they are based on; truly worth a look if you are in the area on the select dates. |
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes rides triumphantly into cinemas in the UK on the 17th July and will hit the US and other countries starting the 11th July.
