Silk shirts, skirts flying and heels of fire is Nick Frost’s new salsa infested comedy – Cuban Fury. Nick Frost and salsa you say? Well, I am sure the man is partial to said dip with his nachos, but dancing the Latin dance, we weren’t so sure until we witnessed Cuban Fury.
Cuban Fury tells the story of Bruce Garrett (Nick Frost), an under-confident, over-weight office worker who is constantly belittled by the Celtic office idiot, Drew (Chris O’Dowd). What many of his work colleagues do not know and what Bruce desperately tries to keep a secret is that he was once a salsa dance campaign with his partner, and sister Sam (Olivia Coleman). Things change when he finds out that his attractive new boss Julia (Rashida Jones) takes salsa lessons and decides to get over what happened to him when he was a young boy and take dancing by the horns in order to win her affection. This film is all about going for what you want and most importantly having fun whilst achieving your goals. A film with Nick Frost’s name on it wouldn’t be complete if it didn’t have some outstanding comedy. Cuban Fury doesn’t fall short of some knicker-wetting one liners and slapstick punch ups/ dance offs – not to mention a pretty special cameo from a certain someone!
The most important thing here is to enjoy Cuban Fury. If you are after a killer script with Oscar winning performances, then this more little tale may not be the film for you. Except, this is clearly a man who loves filmmaking, loves comedy and loves life, so why not par-take in that with him.
With Nick Frost fronting this dance off, what is there not to like? Grab a copy of Cuban Fury today and hit play, you shan’t be disappointed.
