As most of you will already know, Paramount Pictures and MGM studios are bringing the legendary warrior to the big screen in only a matter of days. Director Brett Ratner’s high budget blockbuster is based on the Radical Comic book series by Steve Moore.
The upcoming action-adventure has an impressive cast with the former WWE champion Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson at centre stage taking on the huge lead role. The supporting cast consists of John Hurt, Aksel Hennie, Ian McShane, Joseph Fiennes, Rebecca Ferguson, Peter Mullan, Rufus Sewell, Robert Maillet and Irina Shayk.
With only days until its general release, we have received a new featurette to fuel our appetite. The below clip features the lead male and director Brett Ratner discussing the set used for the film. While the majority of action films and especially ones set in history use a large amount of green screens, we learn from the new clip that this isn’t the case; the majority of the set used in Hercules was man-built with only a small amount of green screen used for back drops. Ratner explains that it took two months to plan the set design, and a further two to build. This can only be an advantage as he goes on to explain that during the shooting process, the set got dustier and more ‘ancient’ and real, every day.
Hercules will open in 3D in the UK on 25th July, so watch this featurette to see if the set can impress you enough to get you down to cinemas this Friday.
