If you were a kid in the 90s, chances are you got your chills and thrills from the hit fantasy horror series Goosebumps, based on the books by R.L. Stine. The show, despite being aimed at kids, produced some genuine scary content for its viewers and was a hugely popular show, but sadly only ran between 1995 and 1998. If you were a fan of the series or the books, then fear no more (Or should that technically be fear more?) as Goosebumps is back with a film adaptation!
Jack Black plays author R.L. Stine, who keeps all of the monsters from Goosebumps locked inside his books. When his daughter’s friend accidentally releases the monsters from the books, it’s up the three of them to team up and put the monsters back where they belong.
Some new pictures have been released from the film, giving us a glimpse of the monsters we can expect to see. One picture shows zombies surrounding Jack Black as he is seemingly mid sentence, with other images displaying several monsters looking like witches, vampires and mummies, and a creepy doll (Who will probably haunt your nightmares if you’re not into that stuff) at the wheel of car. The other two images show Black and the kids possibly in danger, hopefully showing the film will have a real fear factor to it.
Jack Black has been off the radar for the past couple of years, his last film role before 2014 being his quite frankly brilliant cameo in The Muppets. And with his most recent film being the dreadful comedy Sex Tape, his career could do with a boost. Could this be a film that puts Black back on the scene? And better yet, will this please fans of the show/books or will it be a disaster?
