Multi-award winning actor and screenwriter Ethan Hawke, it was announced today, will be honoured by The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in an instalment of their prestigious ‘BAFTA A Life in Pictures’ series. Those invited to participate are featured in a tribute to their work and an onstage interview at BAFTA HQ in Piccadilly.
Hawke first appeared on the silver screen in 1989 as Todd in the timeless Dead Poet’s Society, and he has been writing and acting with a consistent brilliance ever since. He has appeared in more than forty films, spanning all genres and flexing his impressive versatility (my personal fav is Sinister – just saying). He even received an Oscar nomination back in 2002 for his role opposite Denzel Washington in Training Day.
He is currently working on time-travel thriller Predestination. Other upcoming features include: Cymbeline, a contemporary-set adaptation of the William Shakespeare play; Good Kill which screened in competition at the Venice International Film Festival; Ten Thousand Saints, adapted from the critically-acclaimed novel by Eleanor Henderson; Regression alongside Emma Watson; and In a Valley of Violence co-starring John Travolta.
On Thursday 18th December the interview will take place at BAFTA’s Piccadilly HQ, following a swanky champagne reception by Tattinger. Having hosted a barrage of exceptional talents, including Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson, the feature is a high accolade – and a much coveted one at that.
The event will be open to the public; tickets go on sale at 1pm on Friday 21st November. You can grab yours at www.bafta.org/whats-on/
