A series of six very simplistic posters of President Coin, Beetee, Haymitch, Plutarch, Effie and Finnick have them all positioned to the right of the image, wearing all grey and almost blending into the background. Behind Coin is a symbol of the Mockingjay pin, which we all know represents ‘The Mockingjay’, Katniss Everdeen. Above President Coin and everyone else, is a number thirteen, presented in the same way as District numbers. Is this a clue?
Fans of the books will understand the relevance of the number thirteen, but for those who have not read the Dystopian novels, there is a surprise in store. The wall they are stood against looks like a prison wall, but are the characters we have grown to love within the confinement, or outside of it? The grey costumes also hint at some kind of military or prison uniform, but it is clear that each character has still individualised their outfits. Haymitch has his dark jumper and hat, while Effie has her hair covered, for once, and is wearing colourful bracelets and shoes.
The images look a bit like mug shots, and it’s been made clear in the past films that Katniss and her friends are not in Snow’s good books. A question emerges though: why these particular characters? These characters have been getting a lot of the attention in the releases in the wait for the film, but why is there little to no sightings of Katniss?
Don’t miss out on seeing what could be the film of year, as it is released on November 21st. Will you be pre-booking your tickets, going opening night, or waiting for things to die down a bit first?
