There are certain things any Marvel film has to have. A Stan Lee cameo, references to the wider universe, and enough hints and winks for the comic book fan to get excited over. An unnamed source has just apparently released the credits for Guardians of the Galaxy, and it looks like Guardians has Marvel written throughout its DNA! Spoilers ahead, by the way, if you count cast lists as spoilers.

Also, Soviet astrodog Cosmo is slated to appear (as played by Fred the dog). He was once reported to be voiced by Nathan Fillion, but the erstwhile Serenity captain is actually listed in the credits as playing a “Monstrous Inmate”. Now, that Inmate might end up being a Marvel character thrown in for die-hard fans to nudge each other over, but it’s always tempting to hope that Fillion will be playing Mal Reynolds in a homage to Avengers director Joss Whedon.
Director James Gunn also has a cameo in the film as a “Maskless Sakaraan”, and he’s cast Rob Zombie as the “Ravager Navigator Voice” (this will be the third of Gunn’s films in which Zombie has voiced a character, although this will be a bit of a step down from voicing God in Super).
