In the build-up to the general release of X-Men: Days of Future Past, 20th Century Fox has been none too shy in releasing trailers, clips, pictures and events looking to stoke up all the anticipatory eagerness in fans of the franchise. As if those fans were in some way going to let this one slip by. Always a danger that over-saturation could become the thing to break the spine of the film, so what we’re going to do now is give a quick blast of all things X-Men in one piece right now. Clips, pics and some news relating to a future X-Men film.

Fox has released three new clips for the upcoming blockbuster, which give brief glimpses at the various characters throughout the film. The specific purpose of these short segments is to quickly showcase the nature and capabilities of three characters: Magneto, Beast and Blink. The first looks at Magneto, played by Ian McKellen as his older self and Michael Fassbender in his younger days. Magneto is the fiercely intelligent and incredibly powerful leader of the mutant rebellion, although he is forced to rejoin with his former friend to fight a greater enemy.
The second clip looks at Hank McCoy, aka Beast, played by Nicolas Hoult and Kelsey Grammer (although we don’t really get to see the latter here). Hoult was introduced as the young mutant genius in First Class, and returns here as a decidedly more active Beast, shown to be taking on both Wolverine and the Sentinels. He may be the smart one, but he’s got some sharp teeth.
The final clip looks at one of the new characters for the series, Blink, played by Fan Bingbing. As the new face in the X-Men film series, it’s welcome to get an introduction to her… so it is frankly a bit of a letdown that we get various shots of her making portals and jumping. She’s says one line, and it’s not even onscreen. Really, Fox? Really?
X-Men: Days of Future Past received its big premier in London last week (#XMenLive), and the stars were out in force, and the rain, to wax lyrical on both the latest instalment of the ever-growing franchise and the highly enthusiastic fan base that came out to see them. For those that couldn’t make it in person, or weren’t able to follow along as the event happened live on Twitter and Facebook, Fox have been kind enough to put together a quick sizzle reel to show Sirs Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen join James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender on the red carpet and take in the wet weather and cheering crowds on the eve of the film’s big debut. And finally, some big news that doesn't have much to do with the impending Days of Future Past flick, but strikes very big on any future films. X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner announced on the on the red carpet of the Days of Future Past premier that previous word about her desire to bring the character of Gambit back to the screen, this time in the shape of Channing Tatum, have been finalised. The 21 Jump Street star is set to take on the role of everyone's favourite Cajun mutant in a future standalone picture, with a potential eye towards incorporating the character into the next big team up film, X-Men: Apocalypse. Frankly, it's been kind of awkward to pin down whether or not that last point about Gambit in the Apocalypse movie is actually confirmed, but the rest looks to be legit.
Gambit, whom we last saw in the shape of Taylor Kitsch in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, will be coming back to the big screen. It might be a few years before it happens (2018 is being thrown around just now), but the point is this... Gambit is back, and he'll be wearing a vest... maybe.
