Everyone thought it was done. That Paramount had completed their run of Transformers films, and Michael Bay had brought his alien robot trilogy to a fully rounded conclusion. Now that it was over, Hollywood’s premier director of all things that explode in proximity to attractive women by the light of a sunset could turn his attention to other more deserving projects… but these thoughts were clearly premature. Bay went back to Hasbro’s robots in disguise, and it won’t be long before we see the fruits of his labours.

Though this new chapter in the live-action universe of Transformers will feature some familiar Autobots, it also comes complete with an entirely new cast (Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Li Bingbing, Sophia Myles and Kelsey Grammer) and a new threat to the Earth’s survival. Picking up the tale four years after the events of Dark of the Moon, the discovery of a rundown Optimus Prime by a mechanic and his daughter sets in motion a new battle for the fate of humanity when a new set of foes, both human and Decepticon… oh, and there’s dinosaurs, too.
The trailer for the new film has landed, and looks to be actually pretty standard for a Transformers flick. Robots changing, explosions, shadowy government types and military exchanges of fire. Did I mention there are also dinosaurs? Cause there are, and it’s honestly the one bit of the trailer that actually makes it stand out. The final shot certainly does count as really quite badass. Well played, Transformers 4. Well played.

Further to this, Paramount have also announced that alt. rock outfit Imagine Dragons will be taking care of the film’s theme, with the song Battle Cry. The band spoke about working on the film, and getting to work with composers Hans Zimmer and Steve Jablonsky to capture the right mood for Age of Extinction.
And finally, we’ve got some publicity stills for the flick. Not exactly the kind of stuff I wanted (just one behind the scenes shot of Optimus hanging out by the craft table or looking through a camera lens, that’s all I ask), but they certainly capture something strength of the Autobots.
