The general shape of the vehicle itself looks to host a combination of ideas from previous movies, fusing the armoured appearance of the ‘Tumbler’ from Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy with the lower suspension of a sports car, kind of like the Batmobiles of the earlier Batman film franchise (although presumably much less toyetic). It’s also likely that the new car will incorporate some elements in from the comics although specific details, like the rest of the movie, are being kept tightly under wraps. It’s notable also that Bat-fans worldwide got goosebumps when the video game Arkham Knight was finally revealed, it too showing off a brand new Batmobile of similar description – suggesting that the new film might be sharing a creative wavelength or two with that continuity.
Film director Kevin Smith mentioned on his show Hollywood Babble-On that following a Man of Steel special event he hosted for Yahoo a few months ago to celebrate the release of the film’s blu-ray, where he interviewed both Snyder and stars Amy Adams and Henry Cavill, that Snyder revealed an image of Ben Affleck in the new batsuit to him on his phone in secret.
Smith recalls “The suit, it is not mine to spill, in terms of what it looks like, you’ll see it. They’ll tell you when they want you to know, but any Batman fan is going to be F—ing pleased. I’m going to tell you that right now. They gave you the suit you all wanted to see.”
The reveal of the Batmobile itself might give us more of an idea about what the actual suit will look like as well, which as a Man of Steel fan is exciting to say the least (especially since this film won’t hit theatres until the year after next!).
More to be revealed soon.
