The BAFTAs are a huge part of British culture. Even if you don’t really watch films, you will know what the BAFTAs are. They don’t just celebrate the cinematographic achievements of the world, they also focus on British achievements specifically. In the past year we have seen some amazing British films, have seen the work of outstanding British writers, and have witnessed some wonderful acting from amazing British actors and actresses.
Entry to the exhibition is completely free. It is open to BAFTA members and guests from Monday the 19th and then opens to the general public on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th only, so you do have only a short time to see its wonders. Entrance times are 10:00 till 19:00, with Q&A sessions with featured photographers occurring at 14:30 on both days. The exhibition features the likes of Christ Hemsworth, Banksy, Ben Affleck, Ian McKellan, Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Hudsen and Tom Hardy, among many others. The eight featured photographers are Charlie Gray, Ellis Parrinder, Greg Williams, Ian Derry, Jessie Craig, Phil Fisk, Rich Hardcastle and Sarah Dunn.
The exhibition opens ahead of the British Academy Film Awards which takes place on the 8th of February at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, to be hosted by Steven Fry for the 10th time. The nominations were announced at the Piccadilly headquarters on January the 9th.
So if you love the BAFTAs, then you better go down to the exhibition at the end of the month, it looks to be a very interesting event, guaranteed to bring back blasts from the past.
