I’m currently working on an article about The Last of Us being turned into a film, and was nearly finished with it, until the story of Maisie Williams possibly playing Ellie in the film adaption came out, and screwed everything up. This story came to fruition after during a Comic-Con panel where the makers of the film adaption teased that Maisie was in talks to play Ellie. More speculation was caused with the fact that Maisie and Neil Druckmann, the writer of the game and film, were having conversations over Twitter. A couple of people I know who are both fans of The Last of Us and Game of Thrones are very excited that Arya Stark could play Ellie. Now, I don’t watch Game Of Thrones (Yes, I know, I’m an idiot. Voice your anger below), but I know Maisie is one of the stand out actresses from the show. The fact that I know who she is without watching the show is a credit to how good of an actress she is.

I do have my worries about The Last of Us as a film, but Maisie possibly playing Ellie (she hasn’t been confirmed at the time of writing) is a step in the right direction and the fact that Naughty Dog (the developers of the game) and Neil Druckmann are getting the last say in everything from the actors to the director, has built me with more confidence. It’s just down to them now to screw it up.
