I am not a huge fan of Autobiographical books. I have only ever read one in my entire life and whereas it was entertaining enough, I still prefer to live my world of fantasy. There is one autobiography, however, that I just absolutely must get my hands on and I'm sure many of you will agree, especially after watching the unique book trailer to advertise it. Neil Patrick Harris is releasing an autobiography, but it's not like any you've ever read before... By Graeme Stirling Look out internet, here comes another self-published ebook. What’s more, it’s a supernatural horror story with angelic wings on the cover shot. When it comes to drops in oceans, you’ll struggle to find a smaller speck in a bigger sea, category wise, than this. The spread of direct publishing and the popularity of the genre has flooded Amazon and elsewhere with so many such titles, you could probably drown in them. By Agnieszka Ramian “What’s important when you’re behind the wheel? Is it control? Reliability amid chaos? Or a clear view through darkness? Whatever you look for in the car, Stephen King knows… what drives a killer!” King’s fairly developed marketing campaign revolving around his new novel Mr Mercedes simply cannot be overlooked. After looking at so many book trailers recently, surprisingly there are more coming! Being amongst those convinced to buy a book at early stages of its promotion, I wonder what is too much in that case. We have had a series of trailers preceding the release of the novel and they were designed to capture one’s attention, to cause intrigue and to raise questions that only a book can answer, which hit the jackpot. They were fancy, creative, rich and quite complex even though simple animation techniques were used (check out our reviews of Mr Mercedes’ book trailers: #1 - #5). And now, after Mr Mercedes is out on the shelves in bookshops already, Scribner offers us something refreshingly different. By Agnieszka Ramian The big day has come. Stephen King’s new novel has finally been released. It is available, it is there; YES you can buy it and yes you can have it for yourself now, the wait is over! Were you amongst the crowds of people flooding into the bookshops all over the UK or have you perhaps made a purchase on-line or had your pre-order sorted and secured weeks ago? The series of short animations have now come together into a full book trailer which not only gathers them and presents in the right order but also an extra eight second scene is added, which is relevant to Mr Mercedes’ awaited disclosure. By Olivia Grey Anthony Paull, author of the young adult novel Outtakes of a Walking Mistake, gives his audience another story to obsess over in the form of second novel, Desperation Lingers. By Graeme Stirling Video book trailers are a nifty idea. Even if you’re not a fan of a well-established author, a well-made preview will still attract your attention and might even tempt you into buying a book you would never otherwise have glanced at. Publishing giants Hodder & Stoughton know this, and they’ve done a good job of the recent spat of meta-trailers for Stephen King’s new book, Mr. Mercedes. Not that the likes of King really need any promo work at this point. Sort your budget allocation out, Hod-Stough. By Agnieszka Ramian Just one more day before Mr Mercedes is here and some of the mysteries are unveiled. It is day four of the short book trailers that are being published and there's only one more left to go. For those who have just joined the countdown, the idea is that King's existing book characters, which at this point are widely recognized if not a classic figure of the horror/thriller genre, introduce Mr Mercedes by throwing some clues and making references to motives relevant to the novel they have come from. Trailer four we owe to Andy from Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. By Agnieszka Ramian It is day three of the short promo book trailers being released, preluding the big exposure of highly anticipated Mr Mercedes by Stephen King. Each day until June 3rd, which is the day of novel’s release, the world gets to see another short character trailer which uses King's former book characters to introduce the big unknown, aka Mr Mercedes. The honours of narrating the third one out of five trailers planned will do, this time, Pennywise from IT (1986 horror novel). By Gemma Williams To celebrate the release of, and to build tension for, Stephen King's new book, Mr Mercedes, a series of short character trailers are being released each day until June 3rd, the day of its release. The first character trailer was narrated by Danny from The Shining, and now the second has been revealed and it is none other than Carrie, from the book of the same name. By Agnieszka Ramian With Stephen King’s new novel, Mr Mercedes, release being just around the corner, the Promo Page of the book provides us with daily portions of teasers. The count down is on; only four more days till the most dedicated King fans, along with those whose attention has recently been caught due to a well-thought out marketing campaign, will get to lay their hands on King’s new exciting work and sink their teeth in to what promises to be an unconventional read. |
